Baptisms/Christenings

Frequently Asked Questions

Who can be baptised at St Laurence Church?
Basically anyone who seeks to be baptised and who lives in the parish or has strong connections with the church.
You may have a baby or young child you wish to bring to baptism.
It maybe that an older child has expressed an interest.
Or maybe as an adult you feel that this is something for you.

Although we do have ‘set’ times and dates for baptisms, if you are an adult or young person and would prefer a service at a different time, do get in touch and talk to us.
Equally, if you’d like to talk to someone prior to making an arrangement, again, do get in touch.

Is there a waiting list?
Quite simply, no – we’ll do our best to fit you in on the day that suits you best.

Are you wondering if there’s a difference between a christening and baptism?
No difference – two words meaning the same thing.

Is there a charge?
Again, no.
